Control Modifier

Purpose

The control modifier allows you to vary the maximum input and output range of any control within MediaMatrix.  This is accomplished by linking the Control Modifier output knob, to any control in another device, via Control Grouping.

The Control Modifier allows you to have the full gesturing range of any control via the input knob of the control modifier, but to selectively restrict the electrical range of the output of the control modifier to a pre-selected minimum and maximum point, and thus, the control range of the control (or controls) it is linked to via Control Grouping.

The Control Modifier can also be used to reverse the action of a control.  This is handy for creating trim controls, where the minimum level is greater than -100, and the maximum usable level is less than the maximum range of the control.  It is also handy for reversing the operation of a control, by setting the input level minimum all the way clockwise, and the output level maximum knob all the way counter clockwise, This effectively reverses the control.

When the output control of the control modifier is control grouped with a given control in another device, that control in the other device will be limited to the minimum and maximum range set in the control modifier.  It is important to note that the control in the other device affected and grouped to the control modifier can no longer be gestured like it could be before.  Only the input knob of the control modifier should be used for gesturing, as this will allow for the full travel of the control while limiting the electrical control range.  As a result, on any copied control panels that contain the control from the other device, the control should be deleted, and the input control of the control modifier copied and pasted in it's place.  Under NO circumstances however should you delete the control in the device itself, only in copied control panels!
