CAB 8i

Purpose

The CAB 8i device provides analog entry points for audio signals. The CABs 8 analog inputs are transmitted on the network on a single network channel. This network channel can be received with the CobraNet Interface using the CobraNet Input Device. The CAB also has 8 control voltage inputs, 8 TTL outputs, and 8 relay outputs.

Controls

Network Bundle

Enter the network bundle that the CAB 8i should be transmitting on.  Bundles 1-255 are multicast (broadcast to all) and 256-32767 are unicast (one-to-one broadcast).  Unicast (256-32767) bundles are recommended to prevent network congestion.

Transmitting

LED on indicates that the CAB is currently transmitting the specified network bundle.

CAB Link

LED on indicates a valid control link between the MediaMatrix frame and the CAB.

Hardware ID

The 4 digit hex id of the CAB. This needs to match the switch settings on the front of the CAB, and also must be unique for the whole system. Acceptable values are 0001 - FFFF.  This setting has nothing to do with the bundle assignment (other than to identify the CAB that the "Network Bundle" control applies to).

Valid Hardware ID

LED on indicates that the Hardware ID entered is within the valid range of available Hardware IDs (0001 - FFFF).

Mic Preamp

Disables a 20dB pad (for use with Line-level inputs) in the input channel for microphone input levels.

Phantom

Enables phantom power on the input.

Mute

Mutes the analog audio on the respective input channel.

Input Gain

Sets the gain for a respective input channel.

Full Scale Sensitivity

The output setting for a respective channel. This setting corresponds to a full-scale digital signal.

Control Voltage I/O (CV)

TTL Out

When pressed, toggles the state of the TTL output on the CAB (0 or 5 Volts DC).

Relay On/Off

Toggles the Relay Output of the CAB.

CV Inputs

The control input signal after scaling according to the Min and Max settings in "CV Cal."  See Control Input Calibration for information on setting up control inputs.

CV Calibration (CV Cal...)

Calibration is usually necessary before using the CV inputs to control other controls within MWare.  The normal procedure is to set the Min and Max values to the actual real-world control you will be using before attempting to adjust virtual controls within MWare.

NOTE: If you want the action of a control linked by a control group to the CV Input control, reverse the entries in the Max and Min text blocks.  You'll then get the opposite action.

Raw Input (green text blocks)

Shows the raw control input signal before scaling. The analog control inputs have an 8 bit resolution.

Max (pink text blocks)

Sets the Raw Input value which will produce a scaled value of 255. Even if the Raw Input exceeds the Max setting, the scaled Input will not go above 255.

Set Max

When pressed, the current Raw Input value is copied to the Max setting.

Min (blue text blocks)

Sets the Raw Input value which will produce a scaled value of 0. Even if the Min setting exceeds the Raw Input, the scaled Input will not be allowed below 0.

Set Min

When pressed, the current Raw Input value is copied to the Min setting.
