Preset

Purpose

The preset devices allows the current settings of all controls in a view to be saved and restored. Control settings are saved in a preset file in the same directory as the view file. The file is named filename.nnP where filename is the view file name and nn is the preset number

Controls

Load

Loads the preset from the appropriate preset file. If successful, all controls in the view are set to the values specified by the preset file. The result of the load is indicated by the Message field and Loaded indicator.

loaded n - Successful preset load. n controls were set to values as indicated by the preset file. The Loaded indicator lights when the preset load completes with this message.

mismatch - Some controls specified in the preset file no longer exist in the view file. This typically is the result of devices being replaced or deleted without re-saving the preset. The Loaded indicator lights when the preset load completes with this message.

nonexistent - There is no preset file. When a preset is added to the view, it initially does not have a preset file associated with it; before loading a preset, you must save one.

corrupt - The preset file does not appear to contain preset type data. The Loaded indicator does not light when the preset load completes with this message.

read fail, load failed - Catastrophic system failure. The Loaded indicator does not light when the preset load completes with this message.

Loaded

Lights when the preset is successfully loaded. The indicator is extinguished when the view is compiled or a different preset is loaded.

Note: The Loaded Indicator will light if the preset load results in a "mismatch" error.

Message

Displays context sensitive messages based on user interaction with the preset device.

Allows you to cancel a Preset Save operation.

Save

Saves the current control settings to the appropriate preset file. The Message Field will first display "You sure?" to which you may answer yes or no by pressing either the Yes or No buttons. If you press the Yes button the preset will be saved and one of the following messages will appear in the message field.

saved n - The preset was saved. The positions of n controls were recorded in the preset file. The Loaded indicator lights when the subpreset save completes with this message.

open error - The preset file could not be opened for write.

The Loaded indicator is not lit when the preset save completes with this message.

write error - Out of disk space. The Loaded indicator is not lit when the preset save completes with this message.

save failed - Catastrophic system failure. The Loaded indicator is not lit when the preset save completes with this message.

Allows you to confirm a Preset Save operation.
