AutoMixer Linker
The AutoMixer Linker device is used to link multiple AutoMixers. It has two main applications: combining multiple AutoMixers to build large AutoMixer systems, and combining multiple AutoMixers in multiple rooms, when used with the room combining devices.
Building Large AutoMixer
As the single largest AutoMixer made is 32 inputs, the AutoMixer linker device can be used to link multiple AutoMixers, thus building large automatic mixing systems. The sample view file below indicates an example of this. In it, three 32 input AutoMixers are linked to build a 96 input AutoMixer.
Using The AutoMixer Linker With Room Combiners
It can also be used in room combining systems, in conjunction with the room combiner devices, as shown in the Room Combiner documentation.
What the AutoMixer linker does
The AutoMixer linker device combines the link inputs and link outputs of each AutoMixer, and then computes and links the NOM (number of open microphones) correction signal between the AutoMixers. It also queries the priority of all inputs used in all combined AutoMixers, and passes on that signal to each AutoMixer linked by the Auto Mixer Linker device, so that overall priority is maintained.
This is important, as system stability (gain before feedback) is a function of open microphones. It is also important to be able to set and maintain overall priority when multiple automixers are combined.
The AutoMixer linker control panel
The AutoMixer linker control panel contains controls that can be gestured, however in most instances, THEY SHOULD NOT BE CHANGED! As such, you would be well advised to consider them "status indicators", instead of controls. The reason that they can be gestured at all, is that in certain rare instances, you may wish to use them as "master mute" switches for an input on a remote AutoMixer. In most cases this will not be necessary, and could be detrimental, SO PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION!
In the example of the four AutoMixer linker shown above, the red buttons that say "Mixer Disable X" (X being AutoMixers one through four), has four buttons, one for each mute switch on each channel of the AutoMixer. When used with the Room Combiner devices, a control signal is sent to each AutoMixer whenever a room combine pushbutton is engaged, which will then be reflected in the AutoMixer linker panel, showing which mixer inputs are on and which are off.
The Total NOM indication shows the total number of open microphones that are being routed to a given output (one through four). Although these can be gestured by typing in new values, DO NOT DO SO.
The Highest Priority Level shows which microphone on each of the respective AutoMixers has been set for the highest priority. This quickly gives you "at a glance" an indication of the current highest priority input in the combined system (without having to open up each AutoMixer control panel). Although these can be gestured by typing in new values, DO NOT DO SO.
