Crossfading Router
Purpose
The Crossfading Router provides true crossfading between router selections.
Many people confused the Ramping Router with being a router with crossfading ability. However, the Ramping Router simply fades the present channel to silence before fading in the next requested channel. With the advent of the MotoCross device, it now becomes possible to construct a crossfading router. The devices are composed of two basic routers, a -3dB curve MotoCross device and a logic device to control it all.
To make a long story short, you simply select the channel that you want to crossfade toward. When pressed, the current channel is faded out and the desired channel is faded in.
NOTE: Because the device can only crossfade when hardware is present, you will not see the Complete LED change states without hardware. However, the Input Select buttons will still operate.
Controls
Input Select
The Input Select control provides an alternate means of controlling the signal routing. This control allows you to numerically select to which input, if any, an output is patched to.
Note: Routing changes made via the Input Select control are reflected in the Input Buttons and vice-versa.
Input Buttons
This array of colorful buttons select which input is connected to the output. Only one button may be engaged. Mutual exclusion logic enforces this.
Complete
Illuminates when the crossfade to the currently selected channel is complete. Conversely, when the LED is extinguished, the crossfader is currently fading between the former channel and the newly selected channel. NOTE: This LED does not change when no DSP hardware is present.
Crossfade Time
Sets the length (in seconds) that it takes to fully transition from the current input channel to a newly selected channel.
WARNING: The speed of the transition is calculated from end to end. If another channel is selected before the crossfade is completed, you will hear the audio change immediately (unless the same channel is re-selected) and the crossfader will reverse direction which is not typically desirable. Please don't select another channel until the crossfade is complete as indicated by the Complete LED.
