Selecting and copying controls from control panels

Open each device who's controls you want to include in the new control surface window.  You may open several, or all of these windows at once or one at a time.  While in the Edit mode, select a control, indicator or group of controls and/or indicators which you want to copy to the new window.  This can be done by moving the mouse pointer over the desired control, or using SHIFT-CLICK, or using a selection box around the desired group.  A red outline will appear around each selected device.

There are several ways to copy the control to the new window.  Which method you choose to use is a matter of personal preference.

  1. Use the right mouse button to open the mode selection pop-up window.  Choose Duplicate using the left mouse button.

  2. Use the shortcut key Ctrl+D.

  3. From the Edit Menu choose Copy, then from the Edit Menu, choose Paste

  4. Use the keyboard shortcut keys, Control+C followed by Control+V

After using any of the above methods the nutdriver icon will appear, indicating that you may now place the chosen items.  Place them in the desired location in the new control surface window (or elsewhere if desired).  Repeat this step as desired.  You can duplicate (or copy) items in this manner from any other window including ones that you created.  You can duplicate (or copy) a control as many times as you want.

Using this method you can duplicate any control or indicator to any window.  This is useful when you want to build a custom control panel.  One useful function that you can create is to have metering available on an audio flow diagram.  You can copy signal presence and clip lights (as well as meters) from a device onto the device blocks in the flow diagram.  This method allows you to create a complete signal monitoring system on your audio flow diagram
