Modes of operation
MediaMatrix has four basic modes of operation; Edit, Wire, Control, and Paint Modes. Each mode allows you to perform a unique set of operations to the objects on the screen. Each mode is identified by it's unique mouse point cursor. The name of the current mode is printed in the status bar.
There are several methods of changing modes. By clicking the right mouse button anywhere within the main application window you will open a pop-up speed menu which allows you to select which mode of operation you are in. These modes include Edit, Wire, Control and Paint. You may also select the mode of operation by choosing Mode from the menu bar and selecting the desired mode from the pull-down menu. You may also use the accelerator keys which appear next to each mode selection in the Mode Menu.
Edit Mode

The Edit Mode allows you to begin
building your system on your screen, by placing the objects (such as I/O
devices, equalizers, dynamics processors, routers, etc.) on the screen.
In this
mode you can select, move, cut, copy, paste, duplicate, delete, group,
ungroup and label devices or objects, as well as perform other editing
functions described later in this manual. You
cannot edit wires or wiring in this mode, to do this, use Wire mode. The
Edit Mode mouse pointer is the Peavey Delta logo. The
crosshair above and to the left of the pointer is the actual selection
point, referred to as the "hot spot".
Wire Mode

The Wire
Mode allows you to wire the system up. In
this mode you can wire device nodes together either singly or in groups.
You also
can delete wires in this mode. The
wire mode mouse pointer is a male phone plug when selecting a device or
node, and a spool of cable when you are wiring from one device to another.
The crosshair
above and to the left of the mouse pointer is the hot spot.
Control Mode

The Control
Mode allows you to adjust the setting of any adjustable object. Adjustable
objects are called controls. Controls
include knobs, faders, buttons and type-in controls. This
is the only mode of operation which allows you to make adjustments to
the system. You
can ONLY adjust controls AFTER you have compiled
the view file. To
adjust a control, you "gesture"
it using the mouse or you type in a precise value from the keyboard. The
mouse pointer is a hand in the control mode. The
crosshair above and to the left of the mouse pointer is the hot spot.
The hand
cursor changes so only the index finger is extended while actually gesturing
a control.
Paint Mode
The Paint
Mode allows you to change the color of any device, control, wire,
or background on the screen. The
colors are selected from a palette of colors, located within the TAB view
window, when you select the "Palette" tab in the bottom of the
tab window. If
the TAB window is not showing, you can display it by going to the main
menu bar, selecting Window, then selecting "Show Tab View".
You can
also open the TAB view window by selecting function key 11. The
palette and the TAB view automatically appears when you enter the paint
mode. The
mouse pointer is a paintbrush in the paint mode. The
tip of the brush is the hot spot in this mode.
