There are weird problems happening, but no hardware errors - help
Although it is impossible to define all of the potential problems that can occur in a system as advanced as MediaMatrix, there are some common problems that seem to keep raising their ugly head, albeit very infrequently. When we answer the phone at Peavey customer support, many of the problems can be traced to one of the following problems:
Problem: Weird noise coming out of my analog BoB's, but no error messages reported. All BoB's are showing locked, but there is this horrible noise coming out of one or more of them. Possible Solutions: BoB cable is not seated properly. Remove cable, reseat, and re-tighten. NOTE: It is imperative that you NEVER use a conventional serial cable to replace a BoB cable. You MUST use only Peavey BoB cables, which are designed specifically for this application. In no cases should BoB cables be more than 6 feet long.
Problem: No error messages are reported, but I am having a host of weird things happening in my view file (meters reading with no signal, etc.), and weird noises. I just replaced or added a DSP board. Possible Solution: Check to be sure that the SIP resistor termination packs are installed ONLY on the first and last DSP cards, and no other cards.
Problem: I am having error messages. Possible Solution: Check to see that all DSP cards are seated properly in the passive backspace inside the Mainframe, and that the DAB cable is seated properly.
Problem: My view file compiles when designed on another machine (other than the MediaMatrix mainframe), but will not communicate with the hardware or compile when run on the MediaMatrix mainframe. Possible Solution: Check to be sure that the DSP card DIP switches are set properly, and that the hardware base address is set properly in the sound engine options dialog box.
